Place: Karnataka
Location: Chikkamagaluru
Path: Bangalore => Kudremukh peak => Chikkamanguluru => Mullyangiri => Bellur => Bangalore
Fed of sitting 🧘🏻♂️hours ⏲️, days and week ⏳in ofc, decide to go to Kudremukh peak.
As per kannada lingual 🗣️ ‘Kuduremukha’ means horse face 🐴, Kudure-Horse🐎 Mukha-Face👱🏻. The hill ⛰️ resembles the face of a horse so, called as kudremukh. It is the 2nd highest peak in Karnataka. The climate, breeze, view of coffee & tea plants and path along the drive was picturesque.
1st 24-hrs:
From bangalore 🏙️to kudremukh it’s quite a long distance 🛣️ almost 7~8hrs but, climate and view along the path made us forget the time. By the end of the day 🌄 reached our base point Kudremukh.
Due to heavy flow of public 👨👩👦👨👨👦👦👨👨👧👦 and to prevent of damaging the kudremukh sanctuary (with plastic and other stuff 🍾🍶), the govt decided to allow only 50 people to trek 🧗🏻♂️ in the forest 🌳🌲🌾☘️. To get tickets were crucial. I, our lead and 3 other woke up at 1AM🕐 (Now imagine the demand and trekkers come there, that too first come, first serve) and headed to forest Dept in the jeep 🚍 for tickets. We were the 🥇 first to get there.
2nd 24-hrs:
We do know what to do till 5AM (generally forest officer👮🏻 comes at 5AM🕣), roamed for 1 hour here and there and unable to bear our sleep went back to jeep 🚍 and slept 😪.(as i said we were 5) Slept in the jeep for few minutes ⏲️. Oho s**t, by the time we opened our eyes 👀 it was 4AM. Already the people around the Dept 🏬 office was filled with more (>50) people, still officer 👮🏻 hasn’t come.
Somehow our lead managed and bought our 20 tickets🎟️.
After returning back from Kudremukh peak⛰️ , we were tired 😇🤕🤤 and exhausted 😇🤕🤤, had a delicious pakoda 🥖 (even though not delicious, that moment😊 it will be delicious😋).
On the same night 🌃 after returning from Kudremukh peak, We headed towards Chickmanguluru 🏙️ for Mullyangiri peak ⛰️.
3rd 24-hrs:
On the way back to bangalore 🏙️ from Chikmanguluru, we went to Bellur temple 🕍, temple architecture was awe. One of the oldest temple in Karnataka.
Do’s ✅✔️ & Don’t❎✖️:
a. Plz don’t prefer shorts and don’t take ankle socks 👕👗🧦.
b. Carry mosquito 🦗 repellent.
c. Anything that avoids leeches 🐛.
d. Never ever step out of the trail path, remember never ever even if u r peeing (sry if it sounds odd).
Few remedies from their bite🐛:
You might have known the karnataka trekking places were famous for leeches🐛, we had a good experience with them. “Prevention is better than cure”, but not for all cases, here leeches bite neither prevented not cured (these bites are not much harm).
a. Salt 🍚 is the best solution.
b. Dettol 🖍️diluted in water.
c. Tobacco leaves 🌱 or tobacco water (tobacco leaves mixed in water.)
d. Any liquid or spray with alcohol content 🥃. (preferred is body spray), we used F*gg.

Beautiful pics! I have read quite a bit about Kudremukh and the region but didn’t know the forest officials are limiting the number of people on the hill. This, although sad, is need of the hour considering the fragile ecosystem of the places. I wish they do something similar in the sanctuaries back here in Sahyadri.
Great info & Keep exploring! Cheers!
